General questions

How much do I pay to participate in the Longwood Loop?

If you sell exclusively through Longwood Loop (e.g. have a 'profile-only' setup on Open Food Network), you do not owe anything. The 10% fee that we charge on top of the price you set covers all costs, including fees for the Open Food Network software, administration and transport of goods. If you want to sell to customers on Open Food Network separately from the Longwood Loop, you would pay a fee to Open Food Network - more information here.

I want to sell whole chickens but don't know the weight of individual birds until the day of slaughter

This is not a problem! Read here for a range of ways the OFN platform has been designed to be flexible to meet the specific needs of food producers.

We have fewer tomatoes supplied than we need to meet everyone's order

Not a problem - happens to everyone once in a while! Read here for steps to adjust all your customers' orders at once.

Order cycle questions

Open Food Network won't let me set up an order cycle

Producers are not able to set up their own order cycle - this is part of the process that the Longwood Loop takes care of. Want to sell your items when we don't have an order cycle open? Let us know at thelongwoodloop@gmail.com and we can help you set up your own shop on Open Food Network. If you have your own shop, you can still sell items through Longwood Loop as well.

Why isn't an item showing up in the shop?

This is most likely due to one of two reasons:

  • In order for items to show up in the shop, they must be selected on both the 'incoming products' and 'outgoing products' screen. An item that is selected only on the 'incoming products' screen will not display in the shop.

  • Items with an on-hand quantity of 0 will not show up in the shop even if the items are selected in the incoming and outgoing products pages.

Do I need to de-select items that have an on-hand quantity of 0 to ensure they do not show up in the store?

No. Items with an on-hand quantity of 0 will not show up in the shop even if the items are selected in the incoming and outgoing products pages.
